Man who brutally beat his dog with a hammer is sentenced to just 50 hours of community service
Dogs are man’s best friends and they support humans in good times and bad. Intelligent and sensitive animals deserve the same in return. No matter how bad a dog is, beating him is never the answer.
An Australian man has pleaded guilty to one count of committing an act of cruelty and one count of failing to provide veterinary treatment to his Staffordshire Terrier named Dwayne. The man brutally beat Dwayne with a hammer for allegedly destroying his synthetic grass. Neighbors noticed blood pouring out of the dog’s mouth and confronted the man, who then took the dogs inside.
Witnesses filmed the man chasing the dog in the garden with a hammer in his hand. Once he cornered the dog, he beat him at least ten times with the hammer while the dog screamed in pain. They immediately called the local police and RSPCA NSW inspectors, who went to the home the same day.
Inside the house were two dogs, Dwayne and a Jack Russell terrier, who curled up in the corner of a laundry room. Officials became concerned about Dwayne’s well-being and seized him. He was taken to a vet for treatment for injuries due to blunt trauma.
The poor dog had fractured teeth, a split tongue in his teeth penetrated him during the attack, and blood in his urine. The veterinarian also stated that the dog had “hypervigilance and movement behavior consistent with that of an animal following a major traumatic event”.open next Page to See More
