Most dogs love to swim while others have trouble doing so. An unfortunate event with water could make a dog avoid swimming for life. For Akela, the Boxer Mastiff mix, swimming was just a fun and a game until she found herself stuck in muddy waters. A person who lived nearby saw her struggling in a muddy pond and called for help. This person said that Akela had avoided being hit by a car, but that she had become trapped in the pond. She did her best to swim to shore, but to no avail. The Police Department of Washington Township, New Jersey, was quick to rescue her.

Saving Akela
When officers arrived at the scene, they saw Akela walking on the water in a muddy pond. She was entangled in the plants below her. So it was walking continuously, but it didn’t make any progress.
