On April 17, 2018, a group of workers was on lunch break in Palo Alto, California, enjoying a pepperoni pizza before returning to work.
Out of nowhere, a scraggly stray dog came and stole a slice for itself!
But instead of reacting with anger or indifference, the group was able to say that the dog was hungry and malnourished … and they took action.
One of the workers called the Peninsula Humane Society and the SPCA to speak to them about the four-legged pizza thief. Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and quickly found the hungry dog - and it was then that she revealed that the stolen pizza was not just for her.
The dog, now known as Queen Elizabeth, led the rescuers to his little nest of six little puppies. The litter was a few days old and almost starving.
“This poor little dog struggled to survive on her own, eating the leftover food she could find and trying to take care of her babies,” said the Peninsula Humane Society.
