Woman rescues stolen dog by chasing barefoot thief for blocks
Wiley is a 6-year-old cruiser from Chocolate Lab / Chesapeake Bay Retriever who has gone through a hell of a rescue. She had joined her human mother, Angela Ream, on a shopping trip to Trader Joe’s and was tied up outside at the “dog dock” that the store recommends owners use for their poop. However, when Ream went out after shopping, she realized that Wiley was gone. She knew that Wiley had been robbed because there was no way for the dog to move away. Being such a sweet girl, she would be happy to walk around with a new friend.
“He’s the kind of dog that, if she had to detach herself or something, she wouldn’t go anywhere. She could try to get into Trader Joe to find me. The fact that his leash was gone, I really thought someone had taken it, ”she told the Dallas Observer. She called her husband, Sterling Ream, who was taking a test during a postgraduate course. The two began visiting their neighbors and posting flyers everywhere to find Wiley.
They also shared photos and flyers on Facebook so everyone could see and share them. They were devastated by the loss of Wiley. She hadn’t entered their lives in the traditional way. Instead of adopting it, she adopted them. The couple was driving in Sterling’s hunting truck and an animal started following them on the road, eventually jumping into the bed of their pickup truck. They thought it was a coyote, but it ended up being Wiley. Several veterinary bills later, she was healthy and lived in her new home forever with a loving human familyOpen next Page To See More
